لدى زيارة سماحة السيد عمار الحكيم لسفارة الفاتيكان في العراق، قدم التعازي برحيل الحبر الأعظم قداسة البابا فرنسيس، وأعرب عن أسفه على رحيله، وقال لقداسته تأثير روحي ومعنوي على الإخوة المسيحيين وغير المسيحيين، واستذكر زيارته للعراق، وأثرها في ترسيخ أسس التعايش السلمي بين الأديان، حيث قضى قداسته أربعة أيام تواصل خلالها مع مختلف المكونات والشرائح العراقية، وتوجت تلك الزيارة بزيارة المرجع الأعلى سماحة الإمام السيستاني (دام ظله الوارف.قال إن رحيله يمثل محطة حزينة ومؤسفة، لكنها فرصة لتعميق أسس التعايش بين أتباع الديانات السماوية والناس عموما على أسس الارتباط بالله -سبحانه وتعالى- والارتباط بالقيم الروحية والمعنوية

.During our visit to the Vatican Embassy in Iraq, we extended our heartfelt condolences on the passing of His Holiness Pope Francis, expressing our deep sorrow at this loss. We emphasized the profound spiritual and ethical influence His Holiness had on Christians and non-Christians alike.  We reflected on his historic visit to Iraq, which played a pivotal role in promoting interfaith harmony and peaceful coexistence. Over four days, His Holiness engaged with diverse segments of Iraqi society, culminating in a significant meeting with the Supreme Religious Authority, Grand Ayatollah Imam Al-Sistani (may his blessings continue).  While his departure is a moment of grief, it also presents an opportunity to reinforce the bonds of unity among followers of all heavenly faiths, grounded in devotion to Allah Almighty, and shared spiritual and moral principles.
